Hospital-to-Home Transition: Critical Recovery Milestones
The first 30 days after hospital discharge are critical for surgical recovery. Having a trained bedside caretaker at home significantly reduces hospital readmission rates and minimizes the risk of post-surgical infections.
Essential Attendant Duties During Convalescence:
- Vitals Charting: Regular logging of blood pressure, pulse, body temperature, and oxygen saturation.
- Infection Control & Hygiene: Bed sponge baths, oral hygiene, catheter bag management, and clean linen rotation.
- Bed Sore Prevention: Scheduled 2-hour body repositioning and skin care applications for non-ambulatory patients.
- Physiotherapy Support: Assisting physiotherapists with prescribed limb exercises and guided walking.
